Welcome to Cosby Primary School

On behalf of the governors and staff team, welcome to Cosby Primary School.

It is a privilege to serve as the Headteacher of such a welcoming, inclusive and ambitious school community. At Cosby, we want every child to feel that they belong, to have the ambition to achieve great things, and to develop the character they need to flourish throughout their lives.

From the moment you enter our school, you will feel the passion, teamwork and high expectations that make Cosby so special. We are proud to be a school where everyone is known, valued and respected, and where kindness, courage, resilience and respect are at the heart of everything we do.

We believe that every child is unique and has something special to contribute. Our role is to nurture their individual strengths, broaden their horizons and give them the knowledge, skills and confidence to fulfil their potential. We have high ambitions for every pupil, regardless of their starting point, and we encourage our children to be curious, creative and courageous in their learning and in life.

Education at Cosby is about more than academic success. We want our pupils to leave us as confident, compassionate and resilient young people who understand the importance of making a positive contribution to their community and to modern Britain. Through our rich and diverse curriculum, we provide opportunities for children to discover their interests, develop their talents, learn from others and grow in character.

With many years of experience working with children across all areas of primary education, including working in a variety of settings across the Midlands, I am deeply committed to ensuring that every pupil receives the opportunities, encouragement and support they need to thrive. I believe strongly in the power of positive relationships and in the difference that high expectations, combined with genuine care and understanding, can make to a child’s life.

Our dedicated team works together to create a safe, supportive and inspiring environment where children can be themselves, feel that they belong and be challenged to achieve their very best. We are fortunate to have a strong sense of community at Cosby, with pupils, families, staff and governors working together as one team. It is this sense of partnership and shared purpose that makes our school such a special place to learn and grow.

Whether you are visiting us for the first time or are already part of the Cosby family, I invite you to explore our website and discover the exciting learning, opportunities and experiences that our school has to offer. We are incredibly proud of our pupils, their achievements and the character they show every day.

Thank you for taking the time to find out more about Cosby Primary School. We look forward to welcoming you and to sharing in the exciting journey ahead.

Please find the school's 'Get, Set for the Autumn Term' booklet 2026, which is designed to provide key reminders for families before our return (also accessible on Dojo). We look forward to seeing all of the children bright and early on Monday morning!

Uniform Reminder

We kindly ask all families to revisit our uniform policy, which can be found here: . We’ve noticed increasing variation in how the policy is being followed, and we want to ensure consistency and fairness for all children, as well as a sense of belonging.

Uniform plays an important role in promoting a sense of belonging, pride and readiness for learning. When expectations aren’t followed, it can impact routines, safety and create unnecessary distractions.

Please support us by checking the policy and ensuring your child comes to school each day in the correct uniform. If you are unsure or need support with any aspect of uniform, do get in touch—we’re always happy to help and can provide support for uniform.

Please take a moment to read our Attendance Handbook, which sets out the school’s aims and strategies for improving children's attendance. Our goal is to ensure the policy is applied consistently and clearly, with no uncertainty about the expectations or support available.

The handbook outlines the key processes involved, explains the benefits of good attendance for your child’s learning and wellbeing, and highlights the range of support we offer to families. We hope this provides clarity and reassurance as we work together to promote positive attendance habits for every pupil.

Please see important policies for your reference, including a Cosby Communication summary to support smooth communication between home and school. The Trust Communications Policy is also included in full below.
